Although the white feather has had different annotations in the past, it currently represents pacifism and peace for many people. It can be the feather of the white pigeon of peace, but also the feather of the white eagle. According to the native Indians the eagle represents strength, leadership and vision, but it is also considered a symbol of hope.

 

 

People can chose many different symbols to express their wish for peace and non-violence. The best know peace symbol is the peace sign know from the sixties. Unfortunately this symbol also has had a few less positive uses in the past. Besides it is so well know for the peace movement and nuclear disarmament advocates in the 20th century. Therefore it was decided to choose a new symbol for peace that has less of a history.

 

The name 'Tuy' comes from the Turkish word 'Tüy' which means feather.
